Welcome Home, Prodigal Child of God

..and no matter how far you have wandered, you are now coming back.

This is for you, the prodigal child of God.

You had it all when you had Him. Remember the joy that you have felt? The joy that is unexplainable, the peace that covers you at that very moment and the love that you have felt, embracing every bit of you—the best and the worst, the ugliest parts and all the flaws.

Remember how high you have raised your hands? That was the time when you finally surrendered– every pain, every brokenness and every victory, all together laid down at His feet, all was lifted up to be used for His glory alone.

You are more than happy. You are satisfied.

Everything was done with love, taking every opportunity to serve Him. No matter how tiring it was sometimes, you’d still do it; because His love overflows, you need to pour it out. You’ll do it because that’s your way of worship. You’ll do it because He is worthy of every bits of effort.

It was never tiring. It was something you said you could do in your lifetime, something that you’ll do until you hear Him say “Well done, My child.”

Until this happened…

You didn’t see it coming but the fire stops burning. The things that you were doing for Him was now becoming a routine, something that you are now doing out of obligation. He doesn’t excite you anymore. And little by little, you let go of His hands.

And the thing is, you chose to wander far from Him. You knew that the things that you want will not bring you closer to Him yet you chose to seek those things. You chose those things over Him.

The obedient heart becomes hard, you refused to let go the things that you know in your heart that that wasn’t from God. You refused to trust that when you surrender it, He will give it back if it is for you and if not; He will give you His best. He always does that, giving you the best because He loves you so dearly.

But as you continued your journey, you are becoming aware of what it feels like to be away from Home.

You are happy but it feels empty.

You are living the life you thought you wanted but you are not satisfied.

There was something that was missing in the picture. A hole that was once filled emptied again.

You knew what was wrong. You knew who was missing—it was Him.

And now, you wanted to go back. Once again, you wanted to leave everything behind just to have Him again. But you don’t know how to do it, you don’t know how to return in His love. You are covered with shame. You hear nothing but condemnation.

But you will now let go of shame and pride, you’ll humble yourself before Him, deciding to ask Him the forgiveness.

You are now coming back to Him like the prodigal son.

And the son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” (Luke 15:21)

If this was you, this is my letter for you, beloved.

Let me call you again with the name that He has given you: beloved.

You said that you’ll do everything, you are willing to leave everything just to have Him again but let me tell you this, He is still for you. He may have lost you for a moment but you did not lose Him, not even for a moment. He is for you, always.

And now that you are coming back, I want to tell you that He has been waiting for you.

He has been waiting since the day you have left Him. And just in case you are wondering why He did not stop you from stepping away for Him, this is why: He has been so confident that you’ll be back.

He is so confident about you to the point that He’s not afraid when you have turned your back.

He keeps watch on you from afar each day, waiting patiently for the day that you’ll be back. He is saying, over and over that no matter how far you will wander away from Him, He knows that you’ll come back to Him.

And guess what, He’s right.

You may be standing there with nothing but guilt and shame, but the moment that the thought of coming back enters to your mind, behold He was already at His feet, running towards you. He is meeting you right there where all the brokenness were laid once again, He is once again fixing every piece of you that has been damaged. He is healing every wound that has been resulted from your wrong decisions.

But the father said to his servants, “Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.  And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.” And they began to celebrate. (Luke 15:22-24)

Today beloved, He is rejoicing over you.

Now you can rest in His love. Enter the joy of your master and see how He will turn your mourning into dancing. Watch Him as He showers you with favors that He longs to give. Watch Him as He use you again to glorify His name. He will lift you up, higher than ever because you are His beloved.

You will no longer hide in shame because He will once again restore your identity.

You are loved.

You are blessed.

You are chosen.

You are Mine.

The stolen joy will be given back. And now, it is the time to hope again on the promises that He has declared. It will be another long journey towards the plans that He has. The game begins again as you prayed and repents.

This is your new beginning.

Welcome home, Beloved.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It was just last year that I was able to return to God. I’ve been away from Him for two years. And like what you said, I was happy but empty. And when I went back to Him, it all made sense again. I was so blessed because He still loves me despite all my mistakes and sins. He still loves me and willingly accepted me. Thank You, Jesus ❤
